San Clemente Beach Trail

The San Clemente Beach Trail which spans the coastline as a walking/biking trail while giving you breathtaking views of the ocean is one of my favorite walks. If you start at North Beach and continue to the end at Calafia and back it's a 4.6 mile trip. While on the trail you'll encounter lots of other dogs, bicyclists, locals, and tourists. People watching at it's best, plus the cool ocean breeze on your face! On our walk today I saw a lady with a beautiful macaw, a girl on a beach cruiser with a puppy in her basket (reminded me of Toto), and a teenager playing a ukulele on the beach. Enjoy my photo journey along the white sand beaches of San Clemente!

The girls can't wait to get there!

Our starting and ending point

An elevated platform that runs parallel to the train tracks keeps you safe while giving you an awesome view of San Clemente Pier.

Almost to the turn around point.

A San Clemente lifeguard on his watch, not a bad job!

My son on his training run, puts me to shame with a little 10 mile run!

The Girls get Pampered

My friend Jenny and I decided that our white dogs were looking a little dingy so we made plans to take them on a "spa" day to the local doggie shop. Pet Treasures in San Clemente has a U-Wash area for your dogs. Giant tubs that would fit any size dog, nice warm water, shampoo, conditioner, brushes, towels, blowdryer, ear cleaner, doggie colonge and treats...plus they do all the clean up!

A couple of dirty dogs in need of a bath, first...a stop at Starbucks!
Did you say "bath"???

Clean again!

Best friends!

Sand Sculpting...an art!

Art takes many forms. At the San Clemente Ocean Festival, sand is the medium used to create these incredible sand sculptures. Many hours go into the making of each one, and the results are just amazing.

I love big dogs so I really fell in love with this pooch. The expression on her face makes her seem very lifelike. I wonder if the sand sculptors modeled her after their own dog?

This giant sea turtle looks like she just came out of the ocean, they even added coloring to make her "green"! You can't see it in the photo but they had a cute little starfish that was squirting water! They also added great texture on her legs. "Going Green" was the theme of their sculpture.

Can't make it to China for the Summer Olympics? Here's a mini version of the Great Wall of China, not quite like the real thing but very impressive. They even finished it off with the Olympic symbol!

I think the saddest part is at the end of the day...these beautiful pieces of art are washed away with the high tide. Well, I'll be sure to come back next summer to see what the sand artists come up with!
