In memory of my Mom

I've been thinking about my Mom quite a bit and wanted to make a treasury full of her favorite things in her honor. I guess you can tell what her favorite color was! She also had a love for cats. Although she is no longer here, she is forever in my heart! Here's to you Mom, I love you!

Inspired by Buster

Dogs need a place to keep their belongings too! My latest mosaic is a functional piece of art. Four double hooks to hold your dog's leashes, brushes, fold-up water bowls or even your dog's sweater (or your own!). Everything is ready in one place when you say that magic word that I always have to spell...W-A-L-K!!!

Following Through

How are you doing on your New Year's Resolutions? Here are my goals I set for myself this year:

1) Start a blog - Yes, I did that one!

2)Exercise on a more regular basis - I already was pretty active, but I would go in spurts. Some weeks I would do tons, and other weeks I was a bit lazy. So far this year I am accomplishing this goal. I now have a walking buddy and she motivates me!

3) Promote my Etsy shop - I'm working on this one and hope to get myself noticed and sell more!

Reaching Goals

This weekend my 13 year old son won his age division at his first Duathlon Competition. He was the youngest competitor and one of only 7 teens competing in the race. It was a "pro" atmosphere with very experienced racers in great physical shape. A bit intimidating!
My son woke up at 4:30am on a Saturday (I don't know many teens who would do that!) to be at the start line. The race began with a 5K run, then he transitioned to the most grueling part, the 40K bike ride. I don't even know how he made it through this. The route went up steep inclines and through mountainous terrain. If that wasn't enough to make you pass out, the race ends with another 5K run! He did all of this in 2hours and 16minutes!
After finishing he shoved mounds of muffins and bagels down his throat and told me that he was starving! Hmmm... I wonder how many calories he burned?
A nice 1st place plaque was awarded and he qualified for the International Dualthlon that is being held in Italy. Unfortunately we won't be able to go, it happens during the school year. He's already talking about next years competition and how he wants to do it in 1hour and 45 minutes.
My son inspires me to set my goals and achieve them. Because of him I ran my first 5K when I turned 40. Then he encouraged me to run again last year. Now he thinks I'm ready for my first 10K this year.
It's pretty cool when your son is your role model!
I'm a very proud Mom!
